On the occasion of the Dragon Boat Festival, Emperor Group held several activities promoting the traditional virtues of the Chinese nation of respecting and loving the elderly. Emperor Group organized a special charity activity based on the theme "Spread Love in Yonganli Community during the Dragon Boat Festival". Employees from Emperor Group, China Gezhouba Group Real Estate Corporation (hereinafter referred to as "Gezhouba Real Estate"), and China Chengtong Asset Management Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as "Chengtong Assets") formed a volunteer team. Celebrations for the Dragon Boat Festival were held at the staff canteen of the Beijing Emperor Group Centre. The volunteer team arranged the festivities for the underprivileged elderly  or elders living alone in Yonganli Community, Jianwai Street, Beijing. The activities included making rice dumplings by hand, and a series of group competitions combining intelligence and fun, that created a joyful festive atmosphere.

On the day of the event, the Emperor Group volunteer team prepared ingredients for making sweet and salty rice dumplings, and invited a professional chef to teach the elderly how to make rice dumplings in northern and southern style, and introduce the taste differences. The chef also demonstrated the techniques of making rice dumplings by hand. The elders carefully listened to the instructions and partook in the fun of making dumplings on the spot. Volunteers and the elders paired up to form the "best partners", to help each other with good teamwork. Many elders also displayed their fine craftsmanship to volunteers at the event underlining the value of experience and age. During the event, the elders even joyfully competed with each other to test their skills and see whose rice dumplings were better looking. The elders in the community remarked, “In recent years, we have become accustomed to buying ready-to-eat rice dumplings during the Festival. Today, having got a chance to make rice dumplings, we are able to experience the true spirit of the Festival!”

While waiting for the rice dumplings to cook, the volunteers and the elders engaged in a series of interactive competitions in small groups. These fun-filled activities included the Dragon Boat Festival quiz to test brainpower, command action contests to exercise quick reactivity, clamping beans to test the flexibility of the wrist and teamwork, and relay races, to name a few. The elders and volunteers enthusiastically and actively participated in the interactive games. After the event, the elders took the wrapped rice dumpling back with them to share the festive joy with their family and friends.

These veterans had participated in the War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the War to Resist US Aggression and Aid Korea. The volunteers extended holiday greetings to the veterans and their families, and paid tribute to the 100th anniversary of the founding of the CPC. The veterans shared their heroic deeds with the volunteers, who listened attentively and paid their respects.

The philosophy of focusing on public welfare and commitment to charity in the Emperor Group is inspired by the leadership and influence of Dr. Albert Yeung, the Chairman of the Group. Over the years, the Group has been actively practicing corporate social responsibility, turning respect and care for the elderly into the Group’s mission. Mei Zhihua, Secretary of the Party Committee of Yonganli Community, Jianwai Street, affirmed the contribution of Emperor Group. She said, “Emperor Group has had a long and deep association with the Yonganli Community. Organizing charitable activities to help the elderly in the community further promotes the excellent traditions of the Chinese nation and expresses the genuine helping spirit of the enterprise. We hope that there will be more companies like Emperor Group who come forward to help the elderly and offer practical care and help for them."
